Haukadalur geothermal area, Geysir & Strokkur, Gullfoss waterfall crater of Kerið Stay at Hella 9/3 Sunday - Eyjafjallajökull (Eyjafjalla Glacier ) Hike From Skógafoss waterfall to Fimmvorduhals (hike north bound for 4 hours then return). Seljalandsfoss waterfall (walk behind the fall) Skógafoss waterfall At Vik, visit black volcanic beach (rock formations Dyrhólaey and Reynisdrangar) Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon Glacier walk Stay at Vik or along to road to Skaftafell 9/4 Monday - Skaftafell National park http://www.vatnajokulsthjodgardur.is/english/hiking/skaftafell/ Hike: Skaftafellsheiði , Distance: 16.7 km (round-trip) Advanced hikerse: Kristínartindar sumit Distance: 17.9 km (round-trip) Hjallanes 8 km (Skálafell – Skálafellsjökull –Kolgríma – Skálafell.) visit Svartifoss waterfall and Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. Stay at Hofn 9/5 Tuesday HOFFELL: at Hoffellsjökull car park – Geitafellsbjörg – Geitafell – Geitafellstindur – return. (12 km) PASS FJORDS AND FISHING VILLAGES Stay at Egilsstadir 9/6 Wednesday Hike Snæfell summit (1833m) 14 km visit the Krafla volcano, the curiously-coloured Námaskarð pass, the massive crater of Hverfell and the lunar-like pseudo-craters at Skútustaðir. stay at Lake Mývatn or Reykjahlíð 9/7 Thursday – sightseeing day Jökulsárgljúfur—part of Vatnajökull National Park, visiting such sights as the hoof-shaped Ásbyrgi canyon and the most powerful waterfall in Europe, Dettifoss. geothermal waters of the Mývatn Nature Baths, stay at Akureyri 9/8 Friday: Skagafjörður or take a detour on the way there to Tröllaskagi (“The Peninsula of the Trolls”), where you can enjoy fantastic scenery of beautiful mountains, cliffs and fjords. Then, continue through Siglufjörður, which was once the centre of Iceland’s herring fleet, and make a stop at Hofsós to relax in the thermal pool (optional) (Optional: at Húsavík, “The Whale Watching Capital of Europe”) Stay at Blönduós 9/9 Saturday - Snæfellsnes Peninsula / Borgarfjörður area. Hike to Kirkjufell Mountain (1542 ft, 2.4 miles) Stay at Ólafsvík 9/10 Sunday - Snæfellsjökull National Park and Snæfellsjökull Glacier hike between Arnarstapi and Hellnar mountain Stapafell Explore Dritvík Cove, Lóndrangar Cliffs as well as Hellnar and Arnarstapi Cliffs with its bursting bird-life. Visit the black volcanic beach of Djúpalónssandur Stay at Reykjavík. 9/11 Monday – Reykjavík city tour, head home. Around Aug. 1st, We will publish the actual meeting place and time for each day.
