As a 1972 graduate, I'm probably in the aged alumna category. I plan to go to Canadian Rocky and Alaska by car (or bus) this summer, so your trip is very attractive to me. Currently I can hike 4 hours pretty easily and 8 hours with difficulty. I don't hike as fast as our seasoned club members either. Wonder whether I can still tack along and stop/return as we go. BTW, When I travel alone, I prefer sleep in the car on the campsite instead. I have no problem carrying a day pack, but have no experience with overniter's.
