See map http://www.ggro.org/camap.html http://www.ggro.org/hhlandmarks.html All, When hawks migrate south along the coast and valleys, they would be kind of "funneled" down to the tip of Marin Headlands near the north end of Golden Gate Bridge. Here they will soar hesitantly before crossing the water. Hence it's a best place to watch and count them. Hawk Hill/Marin Headlands Leader: Nick Yatsko (408) 247-5499. Those carpooling will meet at the Page Mill Rd/I-280 Park ‘n’ Ride at 8:00 AM. All others meet at tunnel entrance near the parking area on Hawk Hill at around 9:00 AM. Directions to Hawk Hill; after crossing the Golden Gate Bridge exit just past Vista Pt., cross under Hwy. 101 and turn right just before entrance back onto Hwy. 101 south. Drive up hill to the highest point and park. Highlights: Migrating raptors including the possibility of seeing a rare Broadwing Hawk. Weather conditions can be highly variable, dress in layers, bring lunch and liquids. NOTE: This will be our only field trip to Hawk Hill/Marin Headlands this fall. Heavy fog may change itinerary.
